Pat Skenridge began painting in 1995 when she moved to Blackheath. She is largely self taught with an early attempt at a formal instruction being interrupted by university studies, career and travel.

She has been through a steep and sometimes difficult learning curve but received tremendous help from her colleagues in the Blackheath Art Society’s Fauvian Group.

She has experimented with many different styles and techniques in the process of finding her own, presently best described as that of an energetic, semi-abstract colourist. Representational work may, however, still be found among recent works. She is happiest working in oils but is finding acrylic a medium which is very kind to a spontaneous and sometimes vigorous painter.

Pat has paintings in private collections in the UK, USA, Canada and throughout Australia. She is a founding member of the artists’ collective established in December 2001 which owns and manages The Gallery Blackheath.
