Known as ‘the copper lady’, Liz Hale’s current series of dress sculptures and textile inspired stitched and woven copper forms have ignited interest at Katoomba’s Edge Cinema.
Since graduating from COFA NSW UNI as an Art Educator and Visual Artist, Liz has encountered a variety of roles as Exhibition Curator, coordinating Western Sydney artist run groups and projects, and exhibiting at contemporary venue and public sites including Casula Arts Centre, Parramatta main street, and commissions for Liverpool, Lidcombe – Bankstown and Nepean Hospitals.
Liz Hale’s personal works of creation for exhibition focus on copper as a reflection of fabric…stitched, woven embossed or pattinated delicate patterns of feminine crafts. Sometimes contrasted with the finer tactility of cotton and organzer, sometimes with the heavier stronger contrast of rendered mesh and lace cloth.
Liz hale’s work rangers from intimate pieces of pleasure behind a frame, suspended or free standing sculptures, to compositions for installations that chnage course on an irregular schedule according to nature or when someone is to be caught not watching the dance….
